The Y Boutique ★★★

Its new and its clean

The location is pretty bad. 5km from town but right on a main road - so plenty of traffic noise. You will be much better off finding a place in the old town. It seems to be catering more to Thais and Chinese. The staff have only rudimentary English skills. Breakfast is included but is fairly average and the same everyday. The pool faces the main highway and the pump is only turned on when you want to have a swim - no one is using it... The rooms are large and modern but that wasn't enough for me to make it somewhere I'd return to.

The room was a good size, shower was hot! Room was always cleaned + new towels. Security guard always around and staff on the front desk all the time. Great little pop up bar just round the side of the hotel. Loads of room to park our scooter, there is a large shopping area about 800m away with Tesco and markets.

Breakfast very standard (didn't eat it), quite difficult to talk to staff as they didn't speak much English and my Thai isn't great. There wasn't any hotel information in the room such as phone numbers, times and general pointers which would of been helpful. Didn't see many people staying here, hotel is still being decorated(looks good though)

Swimming pool, comfortable bad, perfect cleaning.

Very far from city. Spend more for taxi than for hotel. Taxi drivers do not know the hotel or address.

This hotel is clean and new but it is far out of the centre of Chiang Mai. A taxi is pretty expensive. Especially when you ask at the reception. I paid half the money from Chiang Mai centre to the hotel, so that felt like I was being played. So I wouldn't advice to stay in the Y boutique. The staff was kind, but what I didn't like is this: there is no restaurant in the hotel, only breakfast. The nearest place to get some food is a 2km walk. Or the 7/11 supermarket around the corner. I bought some instant noodles one evening (because I had to get up early the next day for a jungle tour). I needed a cup for it and the staff said I needed to buy it at the supermarket. While there were cups available in the hotel. I mean, come on! So I had to walk to the supermarket again to get a cup. That is not what I call service minded.

When there is no restaurant open (only for breakfast from 7-10) they should at least have a mini bar in the room. There is a fridge in every room. Why not fill it and make extra money?

The hotel was very new so the facilities were quite clean, free wifi was available so that was convenient, nice pool, front desk will help you call for taxi if needed.

Although we got a good deal on this hotel, I would not recommend it because it is VERY far from the Old City and the major attractions. It was very difficult to find a taxi or tuk tuk in front of the hotel or even in the streets (we eventually figured out that the front desk was able to call a taxi for us, but be prepared to pay at least 300B to get to the Old City). Another downside was the breakfast options, our group does not eat pork and a majority of the breakfast options contained pork so it was very limited. Also, the front desk spoke VERY LITTLE English. I think we eventually realized that this was more of a local hotel rather than a hotel for tourists. Do some research and get a hotel closer to the Old City or touristy areas.

- staffs were quite friendly and nice - room was super clean and big enough for 2 people - hotel and room itself was new and stylish - breakfast was basic but tasty enough to fill up your tummy I'd say I was quite satisfied with the hotel

- location might be a bit far from the city for me who go to city everyday yet there's tesco and central festival nearby

Too far out of the city, spent a fortune on taxis, no safe or kettle in the room. Hairdryer was available at reception. Breakfast was only ok.
